CREEPYPASTAS: JEFF THE KILLER

A creepypasta is a horror story created by regular people -just like you and me- with the only idea of SCARING the reader. It can be fictional as well as based on true stories...the one you are about to read was taken from real life.

Jeff the Killer is one of the best known worldwide creepypastas and, once, one of the biggest serial murderers. This is the reason why we decided to tell his story.

His real name is Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, the story begins when he and his family move to a new home because the father had been offered a job with a good salary.
One day, when Jeff and his brother Liu were waiting for the bus, suddenly they are surprised by three boys on skateboards (these would have been 11 years old; they were only a year younger than Jeff and Liu).

At that time one of the guys takes Liu’s wallet. Jeff threatens them and tells the boy to return the wallet to his brother. The guy pulls a knife and just before using it, Jeff breaks his wrist and takes the knife, the other two guys tried to escape but Jeff reaches them. He attacked, leaving one stabbed in the shoulder and the other one with a big punch in the stomach that breaks him down.
Jeff sees the bus was coming and takes his brother and run.

The next day, Jeff gets up from his bed and goes into the kitchen where he meets his angry mother and two police officers accusing him and Liu of assaulting three boys. Jeff, having no evidence that he was defending himself, confesses he had attacked the boys and his brother had nothing to do with it. But then Liu took a knife and put it in front of the cops, showing his bruises and saying he was to blame.
Jeff tried to help him but the policemen believed Liu’s story and took him prisoner.

During the following days Jeff and his parents just felt sadness and loneliness.
One morning, Jeff's mother wakes him up saying he had to go to the birthday party of the son of Jeff’s neighbors. He was depressed for his brother and refuses to go but his mother made him forget about Liu and go anyway.

Angrily, Jeff takes the most elegant clothing he had (which consisted of black trousers, a shirt and a white hooded sweatshirt) and went with his parents to the party. When he arrived, he only saw adults talking and some kids playing cowboys. Jeff thought one of the kids was staring at him, as asking him to play. He refuses because he believes he’s too old to play childish games. But the boy kept staring and finally asked him to join the game.
He gave in and took a toy gun and started shooting at the children.

For the first time in many days he had fun and was happy, but that happiness did not last long because the same guys who had assaulted Jeff and Liu crashed the party to get back at Jeff with knives and guns. Jeff fought with all his might and managed to kill two of the boys but during the fight, he ended bathed in chlorine and alcohol and very hurt, and when Jeff could not fight anymore, the third boy set him on fire.

Jeff ends in the hospital, wearing a cast and his body covered in bandages. His mother told him that there were a lot of witnesses at the party and that there was a huge possibility of Liu being released. He was happy and hoped to see his brother soon.

During the following days, Jeff’s recovery was almost complete. When the day came to take off Jeff’s bandages, his family was very nervous and did not know how his body after catching fire. When the doctor removed the bandages, his mother started screaming with fright and his father looked at Liu, shocked and terrified. Jeff gets up and looks in the bathroom mirror. He said: 'Perfect, this face shows WHO I TRULLY AM' and starts laughing nonstop. The worried mother asked the doctor what had happened and the doctor said 'it must be the anesthetic we gave him, but if it continues that way, bring him in to run some psychological tests'

That night the mother was out of bed after hearing strange noises coming from the bathroom. When she looked in the room, he saw his son Jeff with a smile carved from ear to ear and black eye burns. The frightened mother asks who had done that and Jeff answers 'After a while smiling, my face started to hurt, so I carved a smile to always see my own beautiful face'

Then, his mother asked about the burns in his eyes. He replied 'After watching myself for a while my eyes started to shut down so I burnt my eyelids to always see my beautiful face'

At this point the mother runs to her room to tell her husband Jeff had gone mad and wanted to kill them and they should do something.
Liu, after hearing the screams, wakes up but -being so tired- goes back to sleep just before closing his eyes and seeing Jeff completely covered in blood.

Liu tried to scream but his brother covered his mouth and just before stabbing him, he says 'GO TO SLEEP'

This is a true story. Nobody ever knew what happened to Jeff…he might still be out there.

THE HISTORY OF RIVER PLATE

The club was created in a neighborhood called La Boca in the year 1901. It’s the fusion of the clubs 'Santa Rosa' and 'La Rosales', and it adopted the name River Plate. The club had its stadium in Sarandí for a short time, and then the club moved to Recoleta where it had its own stadium.
After that, the club grew and because of that it had to move to Belgrano, where it is nowadays.

The stadium's official name is 'Antonio Vespucio Liberti' but it's called 'El Monumental': it's the biggest stadium in Argentina and the sixth in America with a capacity for 61321 people and it's where the National Football Team plays its matches.

The club is one of the 'Five Giants' of Argentine football, since the AFA implemented the proportional vote in 1937 which consists in giving more power of decision to the biggest and oldest clubs.

River Plate has a strong rivalry with the club Boca Juniors; the 'Superclásico' is the name that was given to the matches in which they faced each other being these the most important sports events in the country.

The greatest achievement that River Plate obtained was when it was named the World Champion after winning the match against the club 'Steaua de Bucarest' of Rumania in the national stadium of Tokio, in the final of the Intercontinental Cup. Thanks to that, River Plate is one of the 29 teams in the world that have won the maximum football championship of clubs.

River Plate is the biggest winner in the history of Argentine football with 56 titles. In its country, the club has the record of winning 36 championships of the first division. Furthermore, the club has got the title of champion in 8 national cups and 15 international titles.

River Plate is at the top of the historical table of the first division of Argentine football, because it is the club with the biggest number of matches won and goals scored. In addition, it is the club with less matches lost and less goals received, and it is the team which has won more times a 'Tricampeonato'.

SIXTEEN AND PREGNANT

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), adolescence is the period in the life of a person comprising between 10 and 19 years old. In some cases, adolescence is interrupted when the girl gets pregnant: one in five women in the world has a child before turning 18 and each year 16 million births to teenage mothers are produced. In the poorest regions of the world, one in three women is a teenage mother.

According to experts, the most appropriate age for motherhood is between 20 and 35 years old since is less risky for both the mother and the baby’s health. Teenage pregnancy is considered high risk and carries more complications. The adolescent is not ready physically or mentally to have a baby and to take the huge responsibility that motherhood brings.

Most of teenage mothers present:

- Poor nutrition and deficiency of essential nutrients for the proper development of the baby

- An increased number of spontaneous abortions

- Premature births, a large number of babies of teenagers are born before 37 weeks of gestation

- Babies are underweight because the immaturity of their body makes their uterus not fully developed

- Teen moms have more children with health problems and developmental disorders

- In cases of pregnancies among girls under 15, the baby is more likely to be born with malformations.

Psychological complications for pregnant adolescents:

- Fear to be rejected socially: one of the consequences of adolescence and pregnancy is that the girl feels criticized by her surroundings and tends to isolate from the group.

- Rejecting the baby: girls are not willing to take time and responsibilities involved in being a mother. However, this also makes them feel guilty, sad and their self-esteem is reduced.

- Telling their families about their pregnancy is often a source of conflict and even rejection by their own environment.

- The children of teenage parents often suffer higher rates of school failure, problems of social integration or learning.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended preventing teen pregnancy by:
  • Stopping marriage before age 18,
  • Increasing the use of contraceptives during adolescence,

In any case, the best prevention is to give young people a good sex education from the bosom of the family. It is important to report the risks and complications of pregnancy in adolescence and all the changes that will occur from the time when the teenager becomes pregnant.
Communication in the family is essential; therefore, it must be open and transparent so that young people have all the information they need.

We talked to Carolina and Sabrina, two girls that now are happy mothers, about their experience with pregnancy.
BT: What is your name?
C:
Carolina.
BT: How old were you when you got pregnant?
C: 16 years old.
BT: What is your child's name?
C: Benjamin.
BT: How are you now?
C:
I'm fine with my husband and my beautiful son.
BT: How old is your son?
C: 5 years old.
BT: How did your parents react to the news?
C: Badly at first, because I was a teenager and their only daughter; but then they calmed down because they knew Gabriel -my husband- was going to take care of me.
BT: What was the first solution you found to your problem?
C: I wanted to keep my baby. And, after telling my husband, he agreed, so everything was easier. I was not alone.
BT: What bad consequences did the pregnancy bring?
C: The first thing I did was leaving school. Then my friends left me because they thought I was a bad influence.
BT: And now?
C: I take care of my son and went back to school and now I'm in college studying medicine. Gabriel is a good father and since he learned that he would be father he worked hard. Then I started working to take better care of Benjamin.

BT: What is your name?
S:
Sabrina
BT: How old were you when you got pregnant?
S: 15 years old.
BT: How did your parents react?
S: They were angry, but they didn’t want me to get an abortion.
BT: And your partner?
S: He said he wasn’t ready to be a father, so he left and decided he didn’t want anything to do with my child.
BT: What was the first solution you found for that problem?
S: I decided to have my baby.
BT: What consequences did it bring you?
S: I had to leave school. I could not see my friends. In my school, when they found out I was pregnant, I was criticized.
BT: And how did you feel?
S: Depressed and lonely.
BT: Did you regret the decision you made?
S:
No, because I love my daughter Lorena. Since I found out I was expecting a child, I had a unique and special feeling.
BT: Why did you get pregnant? Did you use protection?
S: We did but the condom was pricked.
BT: What would you say to other girls that are teenagers and pregnant?
S: It is not easy to raise a child alone. Before having sex, think about the consequences that it can bring to you and your families.
After reading about this issue and listening to those girls talk about their children, we came to the conclusion that when someone is mature enough to have sex (without using protection –sometimes-) then that person should be prepared to face the consequences and responsibilities of it.

If you still want to have sex, GET INFORMED FIRST, read, ask your parents or teachers. Using a condom or taking pills can be a safe way of avoiding not only pregnancy, but also lots of sexually transmitted diseases.

INFORM YOURSELF. BE SAFE. STAY SAFE.

THE CURIOUS LIBRARY

Our last assignment -The Curious Bookcase- was a total hit. Some students decided to keep on writing, inspired by the title given. Here's another example of how GREAT young writers can be!

THE CURIOUS LIBRARY

In a curious library, life is very different. There we find so many books with interesting subjects and wide knowledge. In addition, we can find students preparing to take an exam, and also learning with the only aim of knowing, which is an essential value to modern life, because when a person is ignorant, is much easier to deceive. Like when we are in a strange city, without knowing the streets and it is easier to get lost.
Anabel was a young woman, just about 21 years old. She was studious and attentive. Her grandfather told her: "You must learn and that will help in the future”. So, every morning, she went to the library. At 6 in the morning she was already there. Lili, the librarian, greeted her and then Anabel followed her routine. It began with the subject she hated most, the formal sciences. She then continued her study with both social factual sciences and natural.
She has been doing this for three week: she went to the section of Latin- American History, and looked for the same book, which she had already read a thousand times but loved, called “The stolen independence”.
Immediately after finding it, she sat down on a chair close to the great large window that showed the garden of the faculty. But on July 28, 2002 -always at 6 am- she went to look for the same book and sat down close to the large window. But that morning she fell from the large window to the garden. When the librarian, Lili, heard the noise and saw what had happened, she immediately called emergency.
The police arrived and began to question the librarian about the accident. Lili said that the name of the young girl was Anabel and that she came to the library every day at 6 am, and always sat in the same place. She said she really didn’t see anything because she was facing back, so she saw what had happened when she heard loud noise.
Meanwhile, Anabel was being treated. Fortunately, nothing happened. She was only unconscious for two weeks, in a coma. So when she got up she knew all about Latin- American independece as if she had lived in the book for two weeks.
Security cameras showed that the girl had simply fallen asleep on the table and that her dream was so distressing that she moved and fell involuntarily through the window.

BLOODY MARY

There are thousands of urban legends around the world but, are they real?

Despite being true or not, people believe in them…why?

The following story is based on a real case and it has become one of the most popular urban legends.
Mary was a fifteen year old girl when she got an illness which had no cure. Her father didn’t want any member of the family to catch the disease, so he hired a doctor and told him to give Mary a special medicine to make her seem dead.
The doctor, following the father’s orders, gave the girl the potion. But after a couple of minutes she didn’t wake up. The next day, her family would bury her.
Mary’s mother couldn’t accept the fact that her daughter had died, so she tied the girl’s finger to a bell in case she woke up.
She remained near her tomb for two days, hoping the bell would ring, until her husband ordered her to go back home.
The next day, when she visited the child’s tomb, she saw the bell had fallen. Amazed and desperate, she told her husband and they exhumed the body. There, they saw scratches all over the coffin.
Mary’s mother wouldn’t forgive herself for the way her daughter had died, so she committed suicide.
Nowadays, it’s very common to find young people curious about this case. They play a game in which they have to spin around three times in front of a mirror while saying ‘Bloody Mary’ also three times. It is believed that Mary’s spirit appears, sometimes covered in blood.

It’s hard to consider is this legend is real or not. Scientists establish that if you stare at something for a long time, it might cause visual distortion and hallucinations. This fact plus the fear people feel related to the story should be reason enough to see the spirit. But, what if science lies and what you see is the actual spirit?

Why don’t you give it a try?

SCIENCE FICTION CINEMA

Science fiction is the popular name given to the genre that derived from fictional literature, along with fantasy and horror fiction.

Born as a literary subgenre distinguished in the 1920´s and subsequently exported to the media, it enjoyed a boom in the second half of the twentieth century due to the popular interest in the future created by both scientific and technological progress achieves over those years.

In literature, film and comic, science fiction proposes a fanciful version of reality, likely related to all the branches of science.

The genre imagines about the uncertain future but also suggests the active presence of extraterrestrial life and unexplored scientific possibilities in the contemporary time.

However, science fiction films offer a negative view of the future, which has made specialists understand that the viewer attempts to reconcile the fears that assault him/her towards scientific findings of difficult understanding. One of the most typical figures of speculative fiction is the mad scientist: a very competent researcher who discovers a mechanism or phenomenon of enormous power. From doctor Frankenstein to the geneticist that designs dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, this characters mark the evolution of the genre.

In film there are great examples of the genre, through the adaptation of stories and novels, and the production of films with scripts especially created for both the big and small screen. Science fiction cinema has been used occasionally for critical comments of political or social aspects, and the exploration of philosophical issues like the definition of the human being.

The genre first appeared on television during its golden age, first in Great Britain and then in America. The special effects and other production techniques allow creators to present an image of an imaginary world that is not limited to reality; this makes television an excellent medium for science fiction.

Films follow the trail of literature. George Méliés was inspired by the works of Jules Verne to shoot “Voyage dans la lune” (1902). New technological discoveries promoted fiction arguments too, like Spanish Segundo de Chomón, whose best known film, “El Hotel Eléctrico” (1908), explores the possibilities of electric energy, which use became popular at the time.

Russian film “Aelita” (1924) directed by Iakov Protaznov, is considered one of the first masterpieces of a genre that particularly influenced a follower of German expressionism, Fritz Lang, who drew in “Metropolis” (1926) a future that bore parallels with the rise of Nazism. “The Lost World” (1925) directed by Harry Hoyt, based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel, and provided the genre with another of its conventions: the prehistoric monsters that survive extinction.

Horror and science fiction genres intersect in productions like “Frankenstein” (1931) and “The Invisible Man” (1933) by James Whale, where the protagonists reached a terrible outcome for having found two scientific secrets.

The generalization of science fiction comics like “Flash Gordon” favored its cinematographic adaptation. Some examples are “Flash Gordon”/”Rocket Ship” (1936) by Frederick Stephani, and “The Adventures of Captain Marvel” (1941) by William Witney and John English.

The influence of the Cold War is also traceable in film, with productions like “The Thing” (1951, Christian Nyby), “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (1951, Robert Wise), “The War of the Worlds” (1953, Byron Haskin) and “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers” (1956, Don Siegel).

The researches on radioactive materials resulted in titles like “The Beast from 20.000 Fathoms” (1953, Eugene Lourie) and “The Incredible Shrinking Man” (1957, Jack Arnold), while others like “20.000 Leagues Under the Sea” (1954, Richard Fleischer) and “From the Earth to the Moon” (1958, Byron Haskin) showed more innocence. “Forbidden Planet” (1956, Fred McLeod Wilcox), “The Fly” (1958, Kurt Neumann) and “The Time Machine” (1960, George Pal) presented the mysteries about the future.

The 60’s brought films like “The Village of the Damned” (1960, Wolf Rilla) and “Barbarella” (1968, Roger Vadim). The film “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968, Stanley Kubrick) offers a realistic prospect of the evolution of science.

The fascination for aliens is reflected in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (1977) and “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” (1982), both directed by Steven Spielberg while “Alien” (1979) directed by Ridley Scott shows them as a threat. On the other hand, the 70’s came up with adaptations of popular comics and TV series like “Star Trek: The Movie” (1979, Robert Wise) and “Superman” (1978, Richard Donner) and with the revival of atomic fear, “Mad Max” (1978, George Miller).

The 80’s showed movies like “Blade Runner” (1982, Ridley Scott), “The Terminator” (1984, James Cameron), “Ghostbusters” (1984, Ivan Reitman) and “Robocop” (1987, Paul Verhoeven). But maybe one of the most famous is “Back to the Future” (1985, Robert Zemeckis), in which a teenager, Marty McFly, is sent back in time to 1955, where he meets his future parents in high school and accidentally becomes his mother’s romantic interest.

Since the 90’s digital special effects gave new impetus to visual entertainment in movies like “Jurassic Park” (1993, Steven Spielberg) and “Independence Day” (1996, Roland Emmerich).

Definitely, science fiction has improved markedly since the beginning, and if there is a highlight, these are the special effects. Today, with all the technology we have, we have made incredible effects. Although lately, has been questioned from several people arguing that "Examples of before were better than now" Like, Jurassic Park where dinosaurs looked more real than now with pure computer special effects.

But overall, it is a very good genre to enjoy because it is interesting and calls the attention of varied groups of people.
